It is with much sadness that Beer Albion football club has today learned of the passing of one of its longest-serving members and supporter Steve Manville.
Steve served the club as Chairman, manager and committee member. His dedication and service to the ‘Albion’ make him one of the keys figures in the history of the club. He has been with the club since the days of the green shed and has been part of the team that has over the years worked hard to get the facilities to what we have today.
One of my many memories of Steve: As chairman, he was part of a large group of supporters that traveled to the London and Manchester Insurance group near Clyst St Mary. The first team had to win to secure promotion to the Premier division of the Devon & Exeter League. We eventually fought back to 3-3. With just seconds left Simon Bartlett hit the winner, our supporters went crazy and a pitch invasion was led by none other than Chairman Steve.
Paul, Tony, and family be very proud of what your dad achieved for Beer Albion. Our thoughts are with you all.
Beer Albion F.C.
